Be aware of scams
This message is regarding the security and anonymity of my clients, and others as well. So give it a read if you wish to avoid any future trouble while dealing with someone online.
Telegram, and all the other social media platforms are all turning into marketplaces and being used by professionals from various fields to sell their products and services, which is a good thing except some scammers who pretend to be professionals, and lie about everything in order to steal your money or extort you out of it.
I receive hundred such complaints from people each week stating that they were scammed by someone pretending to be a hacker, or they’re being blackmailed into sending someone money.
While me and the other professionals from the same community and field as me are trying their best to put a stop to such scammers by having their accounts removed from telegram and having them flagged as scam, it is practically impossible to completely stop all of them, and their numbers are rising each day.
The best thing you can do to remain safe in such a scenario is take various precautions, and I’ll be writing some of them below.
1. Never reveal your true information to someone pretending to be a hacker, or something else. Always use a fake username, hide your numbers on telegram, do not reveal your relationship with the target.
2. Do not make any payment using a method that might reveal sensitive information about you such as your name and address which can later be used against you by the scammer to blackmail you. Always use anonymous payment methods such as crypto currency.
3. Never make any payment to someone who’s asking to be paid in Amazon gift cards, that is something only scammers do.
4. Ask questions before you pay, clear all your doubts and pay attention to the answers you get from them. A professional will always have an answer to your question and will never avoid it, or leave you in a state of confusion. If you’re receiving incomplete answers or if they’re trying to avoid the questions, understand that they’re a scammer and leave. Remember that there’s nothing wrong with asking questions when you’re paying for a service, whether it is legal or illegal.
5. Notice the language, and grammer. A true professional will always use clean language and proper grammer because they have plenty of experience in communication. Only these petty scammers have broken language and grammer.
6. This is the most important precaution that you must take. DO NOT BELIEVE any screenshot or picture that anybody shows you, every type of picture can be faked and edited.
Always ask for a practical proof, something that they can actually do and show you rather than just using their words. Also, ask them how they’ll be doing what they do, a professional will never avoid this question and always give you a clean and honest answer.
Follow these precautions and you won’t get scammed anywhere on the internet, ignore them and you might end up regretting the consequences.
Feel free to ask me about anyone’s legitimacy before dealing with them, and I’ll let you know if the person is a legit professional seller or a scammer.
